My original intellectual debt is to early co-mentors in Korea for converting me to organizational sociology while I was a student at Yonsei University.

Professor Sei-Chull Oh introduced me to Karl Marx's works and class movement organizations, which eventually allowed me to run the risk of writing a master's thesis on Louis Althusser, a structuralist Marxist, in business school.

Professor Yong-Hak Kim introduced me to the world of Max Weber and methodological individualism, which eventually helped me smoothly adapt to studying organization theories in the U.S.

The heritage from the tension between Marx and Weber are and will continue to be imprinted on my intellectual journey.
